After the departure of WCW and NJPW in 1993, a three-man governing committee was formed of Jim Crockett Jr. (Dallas), Dennis Coralluzo (New Jersey), and Steve Rickard (New Zealand) rather than having an election for new president to replace Seiji Sakaguchi (NJPW).
Crockett was removed from NWA in 1995/01 for failing to pay his dues, and Howard Brody (Florida) replaced him in the committee and was elected as the president in 1996.
In 1998/01, Pro Wrestling Organization, LLC was incorporated, and the trademarks of the NWA were transferred to the newly-formed company.
As a part of the settlement of the lawsuit filed in 2012/01 against the NWA by a Brownsville, TX member Bruce Tharpe, the ownership and management of the NWA brand was transferred to the International Wrestling Corp, LLC, established in 2012/08 by Tharpe, Chris Ronquillo (Houston), and Fred Rubenstein (New Jersey).
