As a part of the settlement of the lawsuit filed in 2012-01 against the Pro Wrestling Organization, LLC by a Brownsville, TX member Bruce Tharpe, the ownership and management of the NWA brand was transferred to the International Wrestling Corp, LLC, established in 2012-07 by Tharpe, Chris Ronquillo (Houston), and Fred Rubenstein (New Jersey). However, most of the members from the previous regime, including Rubenstein, left the organization on 2013-02-11. Ronquillo also left the organization in 2014-11, which made Tharpe the sole owner of the brand.
Tharpe ended up selling the brand to Lightning One, Inc., headed by Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, in 2017-05. The affiliations of all the licensees ended on 2017-10-01.
