I am tying to find the bracketing for the WWF World Junior Heavyweight title touranment held in Japan during the early part of 1984. I am particularily interested in who Bret Hart won/drew/lost to in this tournament.

Bret Hart wasn't in the tournament. It was a 3-man round-robin tournament between Dynamite Kid, The Cobra, and Davey Boy Smith. See WWF Junior Heavyweight Title Hisotry on this website for more detail.

No, there was a lot more to the tournament than the one night round robin finals held at Sumo Hall on February 7, 1984 that had the matches:

Cobra drawing with Davey Boy Smith, The Dynamite Kid defeating Davey Boy Smith, and then The Dynamite Kid beating Cobra for the title.

The tournament lasted from Jan 1-Feb 7

Other participants:

Bret Hart, Baby Face (who was this guy???-that's a strange ring name), Kuniaki Kobayashi, Black Tiger, Nobuhiko Takada, and Isamu Teranishi.

Man....I thought my memory from the early 80s was pretty clear, but I just can't remember the tournament. I only remember the triangular finals. I can't remember ANYTHING about Bret Hart's matches in New Japan after Tiger Mask's retirement. I always thought Davey Boy and Bret never came to New Japan together.

I checked and confirmed that those guys you mentioned were on the same tour. Baby Face is a luchador who was at the time working for the UWA, which had a strong relationship with New Japan and WWF and also had the control of WWF Light Heavyweight Title. I think he was usually a heel in Mexico in spite of his name.

I'll continue to look for the results.

My source is a mailing list for old match results. It's all in Japanese, confidential, and invitation-only. So, I can't tell any more than that.

Oh, I understand. Thanks again. By the way do you know, besides his two losses to Tiger Mask in 1982, if Bret ever got any other shots at this title. Also, between 1985-1993, besides a loss to Cobra at SWS WrestleDream in 1991, and a draw with Tiger Mask Misawa at the WWF/Japan Summit in 1988, did Bret ever make any more apperances in Japan, by himself or on a WWF card?

His summit match with Tiger Mask Misawa was in 1990.
