Catch Schober

Postby Ronald » 2011/01/08 Sat 9:44 am

Hey,

here is a information about the german promoter Edmund Schober. For a few months a don't know the exact debut of his shows in Hannover. But in 1971 Schober had written a newspaper article. He said himself that he debuted in Hannover in 1964. I think that was right, because after 1955 there were no wrestling in Hannover. Promoter Rudolf Kalweit held his last tournament here in 1955. Then in 1964 Schober took over the promotional business.

Thanks always for your contribution.

I still haven't figured out how to put all the info you provided into a format that I would like.

Hi Hisa,

here are some points, that must be changed:

For several months you published these list and to that point i have no exact details of Schober's debut.

the old info is, that Schober debuted 1965 but he debuted in 1964....

Hannover: Edmund Schober (1965 - 1979)
Heinrich Kaiser (1979 - 1991)

^^ This must be changed in 1964 and Heinrich Kaiser officially followed Schober as promoter of the Hannover World Cup tournament in 1980.

Schober: 1964-79
Kaiser: 1980-91

and another thing must be changed:

Vienna: Gustl Kaiser (1955 - 1956)
Georg Blemenschütz (1957 - 1982)

Blemenschütz promoted until 1981; Kaiser and William i think until 1989. I tell you more about this, when i find a source.

and this was changed:

Deutscher Ringkämpfer Verband ( 1935 - 1951 )

DRV existed until 1945 with the end of World War II

There was another Alliance called "Ringer-Union" that will be founded in the early 1930s. Ringer-Union merged into the VDB on 21.08.1933 like the old DRV and IRV.

I published for your website a list of the promoters in germany and austria. Hannover is nearly finished....here all promoters that will be active since the early 20. century.

Hannover

* C. Spieker (1904 - ca. 1912)
* Anton Lölge (1906)
* Edgar Whyle-Spitz (IRV; 1924-33)
* Rudolf Zurth (DRV; 1936-38)
* Rudolf Zurth & Otto Möbius (1937)
* Otto Draber (DRV; 1939-42)
* Georg Thumser (IBV; 1948-51)
* Rudolf Kalweit (IBV / ZDB; 1948-55) & Curt Esslinger (ZDB; 1949-52)
* Rudolf Zurth (1951 & 1953) & Erich Kowalski (1951 & 1953)
* Bruno Mosig (IBV; 1951)
* Karl Scheffler (1953)
* Bernd-Michael Müller (1954)
* Rudolf Kalweit & Felix Kerschitz (1955)
* Edmund Schober (1964-66) & Rolf Harnie (1966) / mit Heinz Reinhard
* Vogt (1966)
* Rudolf Kalweit, Georg Thumser & Gustl Kaiser (IBV; 1967)
* Rolf Harnie (1968)
* Edmund Schober & Peter William (VDB; 1968-79) / mit Heinz Reinhard (1968-74)
* Heinrich Kaiser (VDB; 1980-90) & Peter William (CWA)
* Jürgen Windolph (1991-92) & Peter William (CWA)
* Paul Violka (1992-97) & Peter William (CWA)
* Peter William (1998-99) & Klaus Kauroff
* Stefan Haupt (IWW; 1997-2003) & Jörg Kowalski (IWW)
* Christian Eckstein & Tony St. Clair (EWP; seit 2000)

IWW - Independent Wrestling World
ZDB - Zentralverband der Berufsringer

VDB has a working relationship with Edmund Schober and Heinrich Kaiser; since 1970 the tournaments in Hannover were sanctioned by the VDB.

You see, Schober and Kaiser were the promoters, but Peter William was many times the matchmaker and booker.

Schober's Ring Announcer between 1964 and 74 was Heinz Reinhard. Heinz will be involved in the promotional business and booking.

Ok, here the promoters of the german city Recklinghausen:

Recklinghausen:

Gustl Kaiser (IBV; 1961 & 63)
Werner Bendig (1979-85)
