alright, all i've been able to find out about these is that they were awarded to Gran Hamada & Perro Aguayo in July of '91. Did they beat a different team, or was there a tournament, or why did they get the titles? Also, when did the WWF-UWF split happen, and did these titles just vanish or were they carried out under a different name?

I know it's from '91 but moved this thread here anyway.

As far as I know, it was UWA (not UWF in Japan) that controlled "WWF" Intercontinental Tag Team Title. Although they no longer had working relationthip with WWF after the mid-80s, they continued to controll WWF Light Heavyweight Title, which was created originally by approval of WWF.

I don't remember reading/hearing about any title tournament. It does NOT share the lineage with UWA/UWF Intercontinental Tag Team Title, either.
