What is TNA's relationship with NWA?Somebody told me that they split a while ago and that the NWA in NWA:TNA stands for something like New Wrestling Alternative. I didn't believe him, but I'm curious now.
TNA is Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. When they first started they were called "NWA TNA: Total Nonstop Action", but they've since phased out the NWA part and just go by the latter now. They are still affiliated with the National Wrestling Alliance though and use that name consistently for the World heavyweight and World tag team titles. TNA is not an actual NWA member, but they control those championships and Jeff Jarrett makes himself readily available to any NWA promoter or otherwise who wants to book him
