I believe there was a russian guy, shalman hashmikov, or something like that who won the IGWP title in 1989, but lost it some months later...
I can smell it, I can hear it... Its triple H!!! he just won the world title on a fluke! (again)
So what...?
Abdullah The Butcher, Hulk Hogan, Dynamite Kid, Vader, Pegasus Kid, Cactus Jack, TERRY FUNK!
I got soul but im not a soldier
Karl GotchEven though I have yet to see a Karl Gotch match, I believe that he is the only man who can rightfully be called the greatest gaijin ever. This is because of how superb Gotch was said to be in the ring, and how he had a hand in training many of Japan's major stars. Gotch was said to be so good, that he is known as the *** of Pro Wrestling in Japan.
Stan Hansen, Johnny Ace, Bruiser Brody, Steve Williams, Gary Albright, Terry and Dory Funk, Hulk Hogan, Scott Norton and Terry Gordy.

Johnny Ace had a decent run in All Japan, but let's not forget that this board is for the pre-90s topics only.

My votes are for Stan Hansen, Bruiser Brody, Dory Funk Jr., Terry Funk, Dynamite Kid.......and why hasn't anyone mentioned Dick "The Destroyer" Beyer??
This board is for pre-90s topics only. I don't think Steiner Bros as a team wrestled in Japan before the NJ-WCW joint Tokyo Dome card in early 90s.

Sorry about the inclusion of the Steiner Bros., but the title of the topic is a bit misleading.
BTW, I think the greatest and most important gaijin grappler would be Lou Theze. He did put over Rikidozan, so you must commend him for that act, especially in the post-WWII years.
