Lester Welch, a member of the famous Welch/Fuller dynasty, passed away around 2pm on 2009/09/18 in Pensacola, FL.

1937 world light heavyweight championship

Hugh Nichols has two potential dates listed for him winning the championship. It loooks like April 28, 1937 might be the real one as he was referred to as champion in Lima, Ohio, on May 11, 1937. The belt was not on the line, though, when he beat Tiger Moore.


Takashi Matsunaga (1936 - 2009)

Takashi Matsunaga, the founder and former chairman of All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling, passed away on 2009/07/11 due to pneumonia at the age of 73.

He is one of those who should be included in any "hall of fame" of pro-wrestling.

RIP - Billy Red Lyons

Billy Red Lyons passed away on 2009/06/22 after a long battle with cancer in the area of Hamilton, ON. He was 77.

Ted Tanabe (1962 - 2009)

Just the day after Mitsuharu Misawa died, Tetsuo "Ted" Tanabe passed out after an Osaka Pro card. He remained to be unconscious at hospital and passed away at 12:23pm on 2009/06/15.

Tanabe (no relation to me, by the way) debuted as a referee in 1987 with the old Japan Women's Pro Wrestling. When Gran Hamada and he Shinmas started the Universal Pro-Wrestling, the first "lucharesu" organization, in 1990, Tanabe joined them. Between 1992 and 2006, ...

Mitsuharu Misawa (1962 - 2009)

Mitsuharu Misawa, who many believe is one of the greatest wrestlers in the history, passed away due to an injury caused during a match in Hiroshima on 2009/06/13.

He was teaming with Go Shiozaki to challenge the GHC Tag Team champions Akitoshi Saito & Bison Smith. Akitoshi hit a high-angled back suplex. The ref asked Misawa whether he could move, and Misawa responded by saying no.

I was watching a match (not sure what fed) Featuring Terry "Hulk" Boulder and the commentators were saying how Hulk Won the NWA title and lost it in fifty-seven seconds could someone clear this up for me?
