NWA World Titles in CMLL

NWA recently announced that it had stripped CMLL of the prestigeous NWA titles in three divisions: Light Heavyweight, Middleweight, and Welterweight.

Many believe that CMLL will ignore this and continue to recognize its version of the titles anyway. From what I've read, NWA Mexico hasn't really run many cards. Who knows when they will actually crown the new champs.

For time being, I will keep the listings as they are.

Mexican Heavyweight Champion?

I have a question regarding the title belt Konnan was wearing when he fought Psychosis at the WCW Clash of the Champions in January 1996.

I cannot find a championship won by Konnan that fits for this point of time. The IWAS, IWC and AAA Championships have been won some time later, sometimes just a few days later (according to the information accessable on this website).

Konnan has been announced as "Mexican Heavyweight Champion" and ...

RIP - Antonio Peña

Wrestling Observer wrote:The web site of Super Luchas magazine has reported that Antonio Peña passed away earlier today. Early reports indicate the death was due to a massive heart attack. Early reports list his age at 53, although other sources have his age at 58.

No other details are available, although he had been ill for some time and over the past few weeks it was largely rumored he was in bad shape. The promotion itself ...

Question about WWA World Light Heavyweight Title

Anybody know why the UWA World Welterweight Title is being promoted in Japan as the WWA World Light Heavyweight Title?

Both are seperate titles. Any title lineages I've seen have the title currently held by Tatsuhito Takaiwa tracing back to the title first held by Villano III in 1975 (the UWA World Welterweight Title) Are the title histories wrong, or are the Japanese (I think it's Zero-One who are promoting it) wrong?

(UWF &)WWF Intercontinental Tag Team Titles

alright, all i've been able to find out about these is that they were awarded to Gran Hamada & Perro Aguayo in July of '91. Did they beat a different team, or was there a tournament, or why did they get the titles? Also, when did the WWF-UWF split happen, and did these titles just vanish or were they carried out under a different name?

thanks in advance.

El Texano (1958 - 2006)

Wrestling Observer wrote:El Texano (Juan Aguilar) passed away late last night from respiratory failure at the age of 47. Texano had been in poor health for several months.

As Los Misioneros de la Muerte, El Texano & El Signo & Negro Navarro in the 80s changed the face of Mexican wrestling from where most main events were tag team matches to main events becoming trios matches. Later in his career, Silver King & El Texano, as ...
