Jerry Lawler was brought into the ring by Vince McMahon and was awarded this very cheap-looking belt (not even a metal with leather but more like a big piece of soft plastic or cloth) with WWE's version of AWA logo on it. I have a question that has bugged me for a few years...why is it that most AWA World Title histories list Verne Gagne as having won the AWA belt 10 times, when AWA programming, PWI and other mags, and Verne Gagne himself always referred to him being a nine-time champion?

In the Wrestling Title Histories and on the website, Hisa, O'Connor and Snyder as listed as winning the titles on 11/10/1967. However, clawmaster has a listing ...

I have a listing with Danny Hodge as "Junior champion" from a 12/12/1964 card in St. Paul.

Seems odd because I've never heard of this title, and Hodge was not NWA World Junior Heavyweight champion at the time, having lost that particular title about a month before the 12/12/1964 card.

Any ideas? :?:

The Crusher lost a loser-leaves-town match to AWA champion Verne Gagne on 09/05/1964, in St. Paul. The Crusher & Dick the Bruiser were the World Tag Team champions at the time. Were they stripped of the titles, as I don't see how a guy who had to "leave town" could be allowed to still hold the championship?

Also, were the Nebraska title and Nebraska Tag Team titles officially recognized by the AWA?

Does anyone have any information about the Canadian Open Tag Team title? I've come across some 1960's results that show a listing for this title, but have not been able to find a title history for it. It seems to have only been defended in Winnipeg.
