1937 world light heavyweight championship

Hugh Nichols has two potential dates listed for him winning the championship. It loooks like April 28, 1937 might be the real one as he was referred to as champion in Lima, Ohio, on May 11, 1937. The belt was not on the line, though, when he beat Tiger Moore.

NWA Title Match March 01 1974

There is a NWA title match listed for March 01 1974 in Richmond Va. This was not a NWA World title match. It was actually a Mid Atlantic Title match between Johnny Valentine vs JERRY Brisco.
The NWA title was being defended on March 01 1974 in Atlanta Ga by JACK Brisco vs Rufus R. Jones.
I have newspaper clippings to back up those for verification.
I hope this helps out on your listing of ...

newly found World Junior Heavyweight Title switches

Tim Hornbaker found three additional changes of National Wrestling Association World Junior Heavyweight Title that took place in Toledo, OH:

Research of Toledo, Ohio for 1938 and '39 has turned up three new title switches of the World Junior Heavyweight championship. Bob Kenaston, a well known wrestler and a veteran of the Marine Corps, entered the town billed as Sergeant "George" Kenaston, and it wasn't a newspaper mistake. He was known as George throughout his ...

Question Concerning Heart Of America Name Change

Many title histories mention that the NWA Central States territory (and its Championship) was originally known as the "Heart Of America" territory (and Championship). I have been wondering for quite some time exactly when the name change took place. No list is clear.

Thank you.

NWA world heavyweight title tournament

The brackets have been announced:

http://www.nwawrestling.com/champ/

To be honest, I don't know many of these wrestlers, but I think the video production is well done (doesn't look too cheap). Sure, NWA isn't what it used to be, but these guys are trying to making the events look very important thru this video clip, and I think they are doing good job at it. Something that major promotions can learn ...

TNA dropping the NWA titles?

from tnawrestlingnews.com:

Mike Johnson is reporting that TNA will be losing the rights to the NWA name and the NWA titles in the next several months. TNA has plans to introduce their own set of World and Tag Team titles very soon. One scenario being discussed would see Samoa Joe win the NWA title and then toss it down saying he's the TNA champion instead much like Shane Douglas did in ECW back in 1995. ...
