I recently watched the 3/6/1972 New Japan Debut show with Gotch and Inoki in the Main Event.
Another match on the card was Toyonobori and Kotetsu Yamamoto against 2 Americans. My question: Who were these Americans?
I have been watching some tapes of AJ in the 70's and 80's I have noticed that the formula seemed to be Geijin vs Japanese
for their major fued/storylines IE; Hansen vs Jumbo or a variety
of tour guests like Harley Race to challenge Giant Baba. when did
AJ move into doing Japanese vs Japanese IE; Misawa vs Kawada
for their main storylines?
i am a big Stan Hansen mark and wanted to know which matchs in
both his NJ/AJ career were his best?
Also I have heard that his
"Western Lariat" was a really stiff move, which is why he cracked Bruno's neck with it. and why did he use it left armed instead of right? most wrestlers use a right handed clothline.
How is Jack Brisco regarded in Japan and worldwide? What were some of his best matches and how is he compared to people like Dory Funk Jr. and the Destroyer?
Is there a resourse for finding the rosters
for 70's and 80's in AJPW. I have noticed alot
of geijin wrestlers but except for Baba, jumbo
choychu and a cpl of others it seemed to be mostly imported workers from the U.S. Any help would be appriciated.
Another thread on this forum mentioned how Gran Hamada and Mr. Pogo were the first graduates of New Japan's dojo. My question is, who exactly worked as trainers for New Japan in this period? Did some trainers jump ship from the JWA along with Inoki, Fujinami and Kido?
I've always thought that the tag team division in All Japan in the mid to late 80s was one of the best ever, up there with JCP around the same era. My favorite team was Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen. What are yours?
How many times did these two wrestle? Every time they meet did Brody always win until there last match and Inoki won? Just trying to get some info on this feud.
