question about Muldoon and Sullivan

Since it first became a point of study for me fifteen years ago, wrestling history has always fascinated me. The answer to one question in particular has always eluded me, and this seems like the perfect place to get it sorted out.

Regarding the relationship between William Muldoon and John L Sullivan...does anyone here happen to have info to share regarding their alleged mixed match of 1887? Did such a match occur at all outside the fertile imaginings of Nat Fliescher?
