On May 4th, 1905, George Hackenschmidt, who claimed the world heavyweight championship in Europe and Oceania (and probably in Africa as well), defeated American heavyweight champion Tom Jenkins in New York City to become the first undisputed world heavyweight champion.
Hack continues to defend the world title for another three years until he is defeated by Frank Gotch, who would later be "officially" recognized as the first world champ by National Wrestling Alliance.
